Onderstaand bericht op 7 september 2012 ontvangen van Nancy Howells- Ouchida: DAVID PUTS DOWN HIS PEN
Last week, David and I were at Knuston Hall enjoying the companionship of the calligraphy participants. He wrote many signs for their Open Day and a number of entries in a Memorial Book. At the party, he got up to join in a dance and we sang “What shall we do with the drunken sailor?”. He was lively and in good spirits, but not eating custard and treacle pud.
He past away peacefully at 4.50 pm on Tuesday 4 September with Nancy holding him. The Funeral Service celebrating the life of David Howells will be at St. Julian’s Church where he was baptised, sang in the choir and hand-pumped the organ. The Service will be on Thursday 27 September 2012, at 2 pm. Those wishing to attend the burial at Mill Lane Cemetery, are welcome.
After the Service, you are warmly invited to Tea and light refreshments in the Church Hall. For catering purposes, if possible, would you please advise me if you are attending?
St.Julian’s is located on St. Julian’s Lane, Shoreham-by-Sea, BN43 6YW, near Shoreham College. Nancy and Family thank you for the messages of support and sympathy received.
Please spread the word for dear David. Thank you very much. Nancy OH
Op 4 september is David Howells overleden. Hij was vanaf 1993 “mijn” Engelse leraar in Kalligrafie. We hebben eind augustus nog een prachtige stage gehad en een leuk feestje. We zullen hem missen.
Op donderdag 27 september a.s. gaan Huguette & Franky, Anneke en ik naar de begrafenis van David Howells te Shoreham-by-Sea in Engeland.
Many, many happy memories, year after year with David & Nancy, teaching together calligraphy. First time I met them was in Belgium on a course of Scriptores in 1993. Summer School courses followed at Lancing College and later Knuston Hall in England, from 1994 till 2012.
Through the years they both helped me to build up great calligraphic treasures in my heart.
